Julian Garcia

Julian Arauz Garcia was born on February 19, 1928, in Trujillo, Honduras to Bonifacio Garcia and Ines Arauz. Julian Garcia is survived by wife Reyna Garcia, sons Michael, William, and Julius Garcia, daughters Anita, Angela, Norma, Bevolin and Yanira Garcia; Brother Nufo Velasquez and Tia Mommy; daughter Erika Garcia passed on Nov. 5, 2012. Julian was chosen by his father Bonifacio to study in a Catholic School in Belize at the age of 9 and stayed there until he graduated. Julian would have to cross the treacherous terrain and alligator filled rivers to travel between Belize and Trujillo to visit his parents. After returning to Trujillo once he completed school in Belize Bonifacio encouraged Julian during his late teens/early 20s to travel to the United States in order to make a better life for himself and potentially help his brothers and sisters (which he accomplished). His life in the segregated United States of the 40s, 50s, and 60s was rough on Julian; especially in the 40s and early 50s; where he had to sometimes sleep in the New York park and wash dishes just to eat. But one day oddly a white man saw something in Julian and encouraged him to join the Union; National Maritime Union of America With National Maritime, Julian would work in Military ships eventually working his way up as an electrician, which was one of his most proud accomplishments. In the 50s, Julian would marry and have his first three children Anita, Angela, and Julian Michael Garcia where they were born in New York and raised in New Jersey. In the 60s, Julian would begin to work on commercial ships as an electrician and complete Abuelo Bonifacios wishes of bringing some his brothers and sisters over to the United States. This is also the period of time where Julian would begin to enjoy life of the American dream with a nice house, car and family. In the 70s, Julian would separate from his first wife and move down to Miami; where he would routinely travel between Miami and Honduras when he was not working on ships. Julian then had daughter Norma Garcia in ‘76 followed by Erika and Bevolin Garcia in Honduras in the 80s. In the 80s, after marrying Reyna, Julian and Reyna would have William (Willy), Julius (Eddy) and Yanira Garcia. Julian also retired from being an electrician and enjoyed life while raising his children and traveling between Miami and Honduras. Julian’s last trip to Honduras was in July 2016 when he was 88 years old. At which time he was still driving and walking well. Julian was a man that loved God and walked according to his principles, even if others did not agree. Julian believed in working hard, eating well, following the rules, having a nice car and home and always doing your best in whatever you were doing (work, school, cooking, etc), and most of all to talk to him truthfully.
