Obituary of Geneva (Burzynski) Sulek
Geneva (Burzynski) "Effie" Sulek was born in Roans Prairie, Texas on March 29. 1923, to parents, Louis and Rosalie (Warzon) Burzynski. She passed away in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the age of 96. Effie was a faith filled servant of the Lord and loved attending daily Mass. She participated in the activities of St. Jerome Catholic Church and was a founding member of St. Jerome's Catholic Daughters, serving almost 50 years. Effie was interested in cooking and liked to spend her time in the garden. She spent many years bowling and traveling with her team. Most of all, she loved to be surrounded by family. Effie was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Sulek. Survivors include her children Pat Arnold and husband Dan Sheehan, Marce Sulek, James Sulek and wife Teresa; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a brother, Eugene Burzynski of Richards, Texas. Family and friends gathered and shared memories of this wonderful woman during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston, Texas, where the Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m., by Deacon Dan O'Dowd. The Funeral Liturgy was 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13 in the sanctuary of St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive in Houston, with Reverend Monsignor Dan Scheel as celebrant. Following a brief reception at the church, the Rite of Committal was held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, also in Houston, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of the usual remembrance, the family has requested donations to: St. Jerome Catholic Church, designated for the Seniors Group.
