Charlene Hern

Charlene Hern, age 90, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away on Thursday July 4, 2019. Charlene was born on January 27, 1929 to Lloyd Sr. and Clara Young. She graduated from Plainfield High School. After high school she attended Indiana University Bloomington where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education. Charlene married Leon Hern on June 19, 1955. Charlene taught early education for a few years. She began a career with Home Interiors and Gifts in the early 1970's. She enjoyed many years with her husband on the west coast of Florida. She also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Gamma Chapter of the Delta Alpha Gamma Sorority. Charlene is survived by her daughter, Jana (Rick) Smith; and sister-in-law, Barbara Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hern; parents, Lloyd Sr. and Clara Young; and brothers, Lloyd Young Jr. and Melbourne (Meredith) Pope. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM also at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charlene's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
