Richard "Dick" Watkins

Richard (Dick) H. Watkins 4/21/1948 – 6/23/2019 71, of Beech Grove, passed away on June 23, 2019. Dick was an US Army Veteran 1967-1969, Vietnam War Veteran (1968). He worked for GM Truck & Bus for 33 years with 28 of those being an Union Official for UAW Local 23. He is an inductee of the Beech Grove Little League Hall of Fame. He is also an inductee as a National member of the ASA (American Softball Association) Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK as a player of fastpitch softball for 20 years. He played slowpitch softball as well, & coached many softball teams out of Indianapolis that traveled throughout the country to play at the competitive level. He coached many youth players in baseball, basketball, & football for many years, & in doing so touched countless lives as a mentor & father-figure. He was a spokesperson & member of (IOPO) Indiana Donor Network for several years. He is a member of Capital City Baptist Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior many years ago. Dick Watkins was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Cousin, Friend, Teammate, & Coach. He is survived by Wife; Carol Watkins, Son's Keith (Jessica) Watkins and Scott (Kim) Watkins, Grandchildren; Bailey, Haiden, Kyleigh, Coleton, Abby, & Nathan, Brothers; Jerry & George, very special cousins, and many nieces & nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his Mother; Edna Potts, Father; George Watkins, Step-Father; Bill Potts and Sister; Linda Little. We will all meet him again when the Lord calls us Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Little and Sons Stop Eleven Chapel from 2:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Funeral Home at 12:00pm with visitation two hours prior. www.littleandsonsindianapolis.com
