Alfreda Moloney

Alfreda (Marchand), Moloney, Age 89, Blackstone, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2018 in Inverary manor, Inverness. Alfreda was born in Randolph near LaFountain, Ont. on April 23, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Helene (Belcourt) Marchand and Edilbert Marchand. Alfreda moved to Blackstone in 1971 with her husband Henry and a large family and had two more children after the move to the farm in Blackstone. She was a hard-working homemaker. Born and raised on a farm, she loved her garden, flowers, animals and the family sing along. She is survived by her children, Marie (Sister Celeste), St. Agatha, Ont; Cecilia, St. John’s, N.L.; John (Linda), Blackstone; Sister Angela, Vancouver, B.C.; Pauline (Norm), Halifax; Stephen (Gloria), Saskatoon, Sask.; Peter (Jenny), Terrace, B.C.; Patrick (Amanda), Calgary, Alta.; Hugh (Peggy), Cochrane, Alta.; Robert (Kieu), St. John’s, N.L.; Luke, Vancouver, B.C.; grandchildren, Lacey, Amber, Brendan, Theresa, Mary Catherine, Karissa, Liam, Thomas, Kate, Sean, Rene, Jasmine, Rowan; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Henry; sons, Francis (Sadie), Thomas; infant children, Joseph, Joe R., Elizabeth and Janet. As the last surviving member of her family, she is also predeceased by her siblings, Father Evain, Fleurette, Evette, Bernard and Gilbert. Visitation will be held in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, on Thursday, December 6th from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 2 p.m with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations in Alfreda’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, Mabou or to a charity of your choice. The family of Alfreda would like to thank her doctor, Dr. Lok and the other doctors, nurses and staff of Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Also, all the staff of the Inverary Manor, especially everyone at Harbour Lights Villa for the excellent care she received while she lived there.
