Catherine Marcella "Marcy" Rankin

Catherine Marcella "Marcy" Rankin, Born on January 16, 1936 in Mabou, Marcy passed away peacefully in Inverary Manor, Inverness on February 28, 2019 surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Finlay and Margaret (Beaton) Rankin. Following the passing of her parents, she was raised by her Uncle Angus and Aunt Sally "Central" Beaton, and thoughtfully guided by her aunt, Sr. Anita Beaton. During the golden age of air travel, Marcy was a flight attendant, giving her the opportunity to explore the world. She dearly loved her family, friends, and Mabou. Her smile, wit, sense of style, independence, and love of life will be remembered. Marcy made every event a celebration. She was generous and kind: gifts, hugs and time were her language of love. Marcy is survived by her brother, Francis Xavier (Mary Catherine); and her sister, Anita (Don) MacDougall. She was predeceased by her brother, Allan John "AJ" and her sister, Alexandra "Sandra" Rankin. She was considered an older sister by the Beaton children: Margo Ross, Sandra Gergich, Allan Beaton, Helen Anne Bassani, Miriam Gillis, Lorraine Beaton, Norman Beaton, Pat Beaton (deceased), and Kevin Beaton (deceased). She leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her longtime friend, Maria Braman. Marcy's family would like to extend a heart-felt thanks for the care she received by the staff at the Inverary Manor. Memorial donations may be made to the Inverness Hospital Foundation. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11 from 7-9 p.m. in the vestry of St. Mary's Church, Mabou. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary's Church, Mabou on Tuesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. with Fr.
