John Murdock "Jackie" MacKinnon

John Murdock MacKinnon, Age 73 of Deepdale, passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with his family at his side on February 24, 2019. When inquiring about family facts or history, Jackie was the one to ask, there was nothing that he didn’t remember. With his love of the outdoors and the admiration of animals, Jackie also passed that along to his three granddaughters. Jackie was a son of the late Neil MacKinnon and Jessie (Fraser) MacKinnon. He was the devoted husband to Gloria; and father to Bernie (Melissa), Brenda (Bobby) and Bruce; and being a loving Poppy to Chrissy and Cassie MacKinnon and Maria MacLeod. Jackie was survived by brothers, D.R. (Kaye) MacKinnon, Neil “Sonny” Fraser; sisters, Jean MacLean, Margaret-anne (Bruce) Publicover; brother-in–law, Robert Middaugh; and sister-in-law, Rose MacKinnon. Along with his parents, Jackie was predeceased by a daughter in infancy; brother, Lauchie Charles; sister, Lorraine Middaugh; and sister-in-law, Ann Fraser. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for the dedication and support shown to Jackie and the family during his stay. Visitation will take place in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday March 1st, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Service on Saturday March 2nd at 2 p.m. in St. John’s United Church, Strathlorne, Pastor Maggie Plant celebrating.
