Kay Sexton

Kay was born and raised in Broad Cove Chapel, leaving at the early age of 17 for Montreal. She worked at various jobs retiring to St. Jules on the Gaspe Coast. Mom had a flare for entertaining and dressing well. She loved company and our home was a welcome spot for all, especially those from “down East”. A mother and homemaker beyond reproach, she treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. This love was only surpassed by her love of her husband of 66 years and best friend, Vernon, and grand and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by Dad, Mom moved back to Cape Breton where she spent her last months and embraced all that is Cape Breton and reacquainting with old friends and relatives. She was wrapped in the arms of the love of her family and Inverary Manor. Mom is survived by her children, Lois (Francis) MacIsaac, Donna (Gerard) MacFarlane, Wendy (Robert) McNaughton and Barry (Melissa); 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly; brothers, Peter and Harold Smith; sisters, Mary Campbell, Mae Ann Beaton and Donna MacLean. As well, Mom leaves fond memories with family and friends in Gaspe and beyond. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7th in Inverness Funeral Home, Inverness from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Margaret's of Scotland Church, Broad Cove, Fr.
