Dad was born in Emo, Ontario. At the young age of 16 joined Ontario Hydro and worked on their power line construction. On a trip to Kenora he met mom at the roller skating rink. They married soon after and started a family. He then went to the Ministry of Government Services where he retired as the Electrical Supervisor for the Kenora District. In 1969 Dad and Mom bought their piece of paradise Tivy’s Island on Lake of Woods. Dad loved sailing and spent many hours on the lake. Mom and dad travelled a lot and had many extended vacations in Cuba, Mexio and Portugal . When dad retied they moved to Rainy River for a number of years where they made many new friends. Upon their return to Kenora they bought a house on Sixth Ave South. After mom’s passing dad moved to Benedickson Court. He loved his apartment and going to “happy hour” was the highlight of his week. Dad loved visits from his family (and Timber) and enjoyed socializing with the other residents of Benedickson. The family would like to thank the nurses on 3rd East for their care and compassion this past week. Most of all the family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers that looked after dad at Benedickson. You were like family to him and he thought you were all angels. We especially want to thank Janice Robertson “The boss lady” for all of the extra things she did for dad. He loved you. Also, we would like to thank his niece Judy Zilinski for all the visits and time she spent with dad. He truly appreciated it. At dad’s request there will be no service. His ashes will join mom’s and be buried on Tivy’s Island at a later date. “We love you dad and we’ll miss you.” “I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by” – John Masefield “Happy Sailing Dad” Online condolences may be made at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com BROWN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE ENTRUSTED WITH ARRANGMEMENTS.
