Joseph Nabish

Joe Nabish (omakakii), age 85, went to be with the Lord and to be with his late wife, Marjorie Nabish on January 2, 2019 at 7:48pm at the LOW hospital surrounded by his family. Joe beloved son of Tom Nabish and his mother Giizhibabinaisiik, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends which many are too to mention. As we all knew him to be kind, friendly and loved to joke around and tell crazy stories that always made others laugh. Joe was a residential school survivor in which he graduated grade 8. He loved being out doors in the bush of camping, picking blueberries and loved playing with his fiddle. His wife and Joe would help people at the hospital and to be encouraging to others when needed. Joe worked at the morning star and was a cab driver as a young man. Joe and his wife lived together made many years and loved going to church and praising the Lord together. Sadly, when his wife died back in 2015, he became so lonely that he basically went to town a lot to be with other people that would cheer him up. Many times, his granddaughter (Gina) would always help in with cleaning his place, pay bills or get groceries for him or even just to sit with him and have a long conversation about his late wife and many talks about the love of Jesus they both shared. Joe will always be remembered as a bright shining light to his family and friends, especially his dog Snoopy in which he loved and cherished so much. A special thanks the staff at the ICU, for all the help and support, to Ochiichagwebabigoining First Nations for all their help and support. Also, a special thank you to his granddaughter Gina for just being there when he needed her the most. Wake will start on January 4, 2019 at 3:00pm, the funeral will be held at the Ochiichagwebabigoining Community Centre on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Robert Wittmeier officiating.
