Leah Yvonne Kakeeway September 6, 1967 – November 1, 2018 Leah Kakeeway, a resident of O’Bashkaandagaang First Nation, Ontario, passed away on November 1, 2018 at St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born on September 6, 1967 in Kenora, Ontario and was 51 years of age. Leah was predeceased by her parents Marcella Kakeeway and Donnelly Paypom, grandparents Allen Paypom and Marian Paypom, sister Adele, brother Glenn Dunsford, Aunt Verna, Uncles Russell Paypom, Carl Paypom, Gabriel Kakeeway, cousins Casey Paypom Sr., Rosie Paypom, Felix Kokopenace, Antonio Paypom and Shannon Paypom. She is survived by the father of her children Harvey Smith, brother Ed Dunsford, her daughters Dawnlee Paypom, Rina Fisher, granddaughters Tameeka, Creedence, Saneeka, Lilliana, Leila and Leah, sons Adrian Kakeeway, Travis Smith, Benny, Jermaine Jamie and Harvey, grandsons Matteo & Shayden, aunt Barbara Valence, Uncle Mike, cousins Allen, Ruth, Rosalind and Luke, Carl, Linda, Susan, Adeline, Mark, Charlene, Rachel, Lisa and Clarence, nieces Marion, Barb, Paradise, River, Sharon, Keirsten, Tracy, Myrna, nephews Casey, Chris, Peter, Aaron, Russell, Monty, Carl, Stewart, Gavin, Steven, Ryan, Matthew and Tyron. Yvonne loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member for the Washagamis Bay Investment Corporation. Her hobbies included reading romance novels, facebook, playing Toy Blaster, playing cards with her family and friends she also loved to travel and loved her pets. She would genuinely care for people in her community, her door was always open. Yvonne had strong cultural beliefs. She was strong willed, had a good sense of humour and loved to laugh. Yvonne will be greatly missed by so many people. Wake Service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the O’Bashkaandagaang Band Office starting at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the O’Bashkaandagaang Band Office with Elder Ron Mandamin officiating, interment to follow in the O”Bashkaandagaang Cemetery.
