Obituary of Marvin Redsky
Marvin James Redsky OGIMA-WAB – KING OF RAINBOW NII-MA (STURGEON CLAN) Marvin James Redsky passed away peacefully with family by his side, his sister Rosalene and his daughter Virginia on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 1:55 p.m. at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital at the age of 55. Marvin was born in Kenora, Ontario on January 22, 1963. He is predeceased by his parents Jim Williams and Agnes Redsky, sisters Lorraine and Melvina, nephews Nathaneal, Ryan, Clifford, Ricky, nieces Jolene, Lydia and Kirsten. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Virginia, sister Rosalene (Ron), Aunt Jean, nephew Chris (Ruth), Nevada, nieces Jeralyn, grandchildren Andrew, Andrea, Zady, Dakota, Jeremiah and Haily. Marvin grew up in both communities Shoal Lake #39 & 40. He worked for City of Winnipeg (GWWD), as an Intake Operator at Indian Bay, Manitoba, (Waugh, from May 4, 1991-June 3, 1989). He worked for Walsten Camps as a Guide with Ralph Mandamin, later in the winter months, he also did ice cutting with Ron and did casual labour for both #39 & #40. He was a residential school survivor, played hockey, football and other sports, we remember one Sunday our Mom asking him where are you going? “I’m gonna skate to Waugh and work with Dad in the morning”. Thank you to family and friends for sharing of memories of Marvin. The family would like to thank Kim at the Morning Star, Lake of the Woods District Hospital, 3rd floor staff and both communities of Iskatewizaagegan #39 & Shoal Lake #40. Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Shoal Lake #39 Community Centre. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Shoal Lake Community Centre with Elder Peter White officiating with interment to follow at Shoal Lake Cemetery.
