Obituary of Grace Arlene Rehil
Grace Arlene Rehil, of Traverse City, passed away on September 17, 2019; she was 90 years old. Grace was born on June 12, 1929 in Hale, MI to parents Henry and Beatrice Lavigueur. She graduated from Hale High School in 1946. In 1948, Grace married Howard Rehil, the boy next door. Over the next several years she spent her time raising 5 children, suffering the loss of baby Joe at the tender age of 3 months. After 30 years of marriage, Grace mourned the loss of her husband, Howard, when he passed away from cancer at the age of 53. Grace entered the workforce by working on the assembly line for United Tech (Lear); she would work there for the next 10 years. In 2004, Grace would again mourn the passing of a child, her daughter, Carol, who succumbed to lung cancer. Grace loved the outdoors and attending garage sales. She enjoyed fixing up her house and decorating. She doted over her many grandchildren, singing them the Irish Lullaby and Ol’ Shep. Grace will be remembered by her children, Linda Humphrey, Jeanne Hook and Howard (Ella) Rehil, II; siblings, Charles (Betty) Lavigueur, Rosena Mousseau and Ona Bell. Grace is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Laura Groulx, Hazel Barnum and Floyd Lavigueur and her grandchild, John Gilbertson. Friends and family may be received at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley on Friday, September 20 at 12:00; funeral service will begin at 1:00, followed by a committal service at St. Mary’s of Hannah Cemetery. Everyone is also invited to attend a reception at Blair Township Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
