Reaunette E Vaughn

Reaunette Everett Vaughn, 95, of LaGrange, GA, died Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, GA. Mrs. Vaughn, born December 15, 1923, in Sandersville, GA, was the daughter of the late Taylor Lamar Everett, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Brown Everett. She grew up in Waycross, GA, and attended Valdosta State College, later graduating from the University of Georgia where she received her Master of Fine Arts studying under the direction of the late Lamar Dodd. After graduate school, she moved to LaGrange in 1947 and became a faculty member of the Art Department at LaGrange College until 1956 when she retired from teaching to raise her family. Mrs. Vaughn continued to paint throughout her life and was an active, early member of the Chattahoochee Valley Art Association (now LaGrange Art Museum). She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange and served on the Altar Guild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Guinn Vaughn, Sr., and her brother, Taylor Lamar Everett, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Clare Vaughn of LaGrange, her son Dr. Augustus Guinn Vaughn, Jr., and his wife Dr. Rebecca Youngblood Vaughn of Summerville, GA; two grandchildren, Augustus Guinn Vaughn III of Acworth, GA, and Lindsey Taylor Vaughn of Summerville, GA; as well as nephews Clarence Roland Vaughn III of McCaysville, GA, and Alvin Henson Vaughn of Conyers, GA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2019 at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange with Dr. John Beyers officiating. A reception will follow in the Church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Altar Guild of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, 401 Broad Street, LaGrange, GA 30240 in memory of Mrs. Reaunette Vaughn.
