Obituary of Leonard Topper
Leonard "Lenny" Topper, age 82, of Toms River, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Leonard was born May 10, 1936. Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dolores Topper; his children: Barrie Glenn and her husband Alan, and Michelle Brodsky; and grandchildren: Samantha, Andrew, Matthew, Lauren, and Amanda. Lenny was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dr. Neil Brodsky, and his sister, Shirley Topper. Prior to retiring, he was a Production and Purchasing Agent in the garment industry in Manhattan, where he worked for his entire career. Before his diagnosis with Parkinson's, Lenny was very active and was a team member in a bowling league and an active participant on several committees within his community in Leisure Knoll. He was a huge Giants and Mets fan and was an avid sports lover. He loved to play softball, where he met many of his friends. Lenny was also a history buff, especially when it came to World War II. One of his hobbies included building model airplanes and ships. He was a man who did everything for everybody and was always there to answer the call when someone needed help. Lenny wore many hats, but his favorite hat of all was being "Poppy" to his five beloved grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and treasured being part of their lives. A funeral service for Lenny will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Funeral Chapels, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. The burial will be private.
