Obituary of Frances Bell
Peacefully in her sleep at the Salem Manor in Leduc, Frances Bell passed away in her 101st year. Predeceased by her husband W.A. “Bill” Bell (1984) and her daughter-in-law Wendi (nee Giles) (1990). She is survived by 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: 1. Alan and his family of Calgary; 2. Heather of Edmonton and her son Marc (Pascale) and family of Calgary; 3. Bonnie of Toronto; 4. Howard (Amy) of Leduc, his son Jason and family of Edmonton and his daughter Lindsay (Luke) and family of Edmonton. Frances was born and raised in Edmonton and while she was working in Ottawa, met her husband Bill who was training in the RCAF. They were married in 1942 and lived in southern Alberta before settling in Leduc in 1954. Trained as a stenographer, she worked in Leduc as a part time court clerk and for years was an employee of Sparrow Industries. She was a lifetime member of the Anglican Church and The Order of the Eastern Star. At various times she volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels, School Tutoring, Second Glance, and Dr. Woods’ House Museum. Frances loved dancing, curling, bowling and making crafts of any kind. In her later life she became an avid traveler throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world. Frances has now taken her final journey. The family would like to thank Kathi Kilgour for her friendship and support to Frances over the years. They would also like to thank the staff at Salem Manor for their excellent care and compassion during the years she was a resident there. Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 4416 – 50 Street, Leduc. Burial will take place in the Spring at Leduc Cemetery.
