Obituary of Derek William Read
READ; Derek William - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Derek William Read of London on June 10, 2019 in his 83rd year. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joan and his children Steve (Tracy) Read, Rob Read (partner Kate), as well as his stepsons Dean Brennen and Kevin (Kristin) Trotter and granddaughters Hannah, Kamille and Karis; and his brother Robert Read (late Theresa), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Ed Davis as well as his many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Derek was born in Woolwich, England and moved to Canada with his family as a young man. He spent a great deal of time with family and friends at their family cottage on Lake Couchiching in Orillia creating many wonderful memories. In addition to Derek being a loving family man, he enjoyed many hobbies and interests over the years such as woodworking, photography, golfing and scuba diving. He was also known to accept any challenge at the card table and was always a willing participant at any board or dice game. His name also appeared on many trophies on the wall at the Ford Talbotville plant where he worked for 23 years before retiring. Derek and Joan also enjoyed travelling throughout their marriage to places like Barbados, Mexico, Alaska, and Florida which they travelled to many times. A lot of travels would take them to British Columbia to visit their granddaughters.
