Obituary of Michalina "Lee" Lauriston
It is with great sadness the family of Michalina “Lee” Lauriston announce her passing on September 7, 2019 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her husband Laurie (2007), Lee will be lovingly remembered by her children Toyanne and Toni, and by her sister, Jean and brother, Alfred in Alberta. Lee will also be forever remembered by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Lee is predeceased by her siblings Helen, John, Bette, Frank and Sam. Her daughters are profoundly thankful to have had the best mother that anyone could ever want. Although Lee always said she never liked cooking, she enjoyed having family and friends over or making plans to go out-visiting people, going to the theatre or out for dinner. The welcome sign was always out for her daughters’ friends. Lee and her husband were keen square dancers- something that they did for many years. Lee even made her own square dancing dresses- and she had a lot of them. A veteran of WWII, Lee served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps. With her husband, she travelled around the world- South Africa, Europe, Caribbean just to name a few- despite having moved around Canada every 2 or 3 years until Laurie retired from the army. We thank McCormick Home for the care they gave to Lee. Also we thank Colleen, Lee’s companion caregiver, who contributed to Lee’s enjoyment of life these last few years. We give them and everyone else who loved and cared about our mother out warmest gratitude. A celebration of Lee’s life will be held on Saturday September 14th, 2019 beginning with a visitation at noon, followed by a funeral service to begin at 2pm at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas Street). Burial will take place on Saturday September 21st at 11am at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. All who would like to attend are welcome. Words of comfort may be expressed at www.needhamfuneralhome.com . Those who so desire may make charitable memorial donations in memory of Lee to McCormick Foundation 2022 Kains Road, London Ontario N6K 0A8.
