Mrs. Peggy Jean Smith

Peggy was born on February 17, 1938 in Kemp, Texas to parents Jess Robert and Hazel Nann (Easterly) Mooneyham and entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2019 at the age of 81. She married her sweetheart, Bill Smith, in Rockwall, Texas on April 21, 1953. In her early years Peggy worked at Baylor Hospital in Dallas and then became the Director of Emmanuel Lutheran Daycare in Dallas. She worked as a Manager at the Taco Bell in Athens and then went on to be a Supervisor for six Taco Bell locations throughout Texas. While her children were growing up she was the President of the PTA. Peggy was known for her great sense of humor. She enjoyed sports and playing baseball. Peggy loved many things in life; holidays, she loved a good rain storm, listening to Marty Robbins, writing poetry, but she really loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed trading on Ebay and going to garage sales. Peggy was Baptist by faith and was a member of West Athens Baptist Church. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peggy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, son David Smith, grandson Justin Smith and brothers; Patrick Mooneyham and Paul Mooneyham. She is survived by her loving husband Billy Joe Smith of Athens, daughter Susan Williams and husband Joe of Athens, son Stephen Smith and wife Donna of Terrell, daughter Jodi Hamilton and husband Ron of Brownsboro, grandchildren; Brad and Brittany Williams, David and Casey Lott, Zach Williams, Michael and Jill Lott and Josh and Sarah Williams, Aarron Farmer and Rae’chyll Farmer, great-grandkids; Daylon, Bryce, Addison, Mia and Matthew, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
