Obituary of Marita Jane Frayne
Mesa, AZ – Marita Jane (Frogge) Frayne, 71, passed away on Thursday, June 6th after being hospitalized and receiving short-term hospice care. Marita was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Frayne, who passed away on the same date nine (9) years earlier. Marita was described as “one of a kind”. She was a caring soul for her family and friends, a staunch defender of those under-served or experiencing injustice, a rescuer of homeless and abused animals, a liberal with views for equality and access, and someone that was never a stranger to anyone. She lived by the simple but important motto of “Be Kind” and “Well-behaved women rarely make history”. We all loved Marita! Marita was born in El Dorado, KS on June 22, 1947, where she was raised on a livestock and crop farm by her parents, Fred Stanley and Charlotte Edith (Himbury) Frogge. They preceded her in death in 1969. She attended school in Leon, KS and remained friends with many who attended with her. She married Fred Kent in 1965 and had a son, Darin Lee Kent and daughter, Kelli Renee Kent, who both survive. Marita later met Alan and moved from Wichita, KS to Arizona in 1978 where they were later married and reunited with Marita’s two children. Marita’s career spanned several decades as a Plumbing Specialist in the plumbing and piping industry. She supported service and construction plumbers throughout her career and was known as a “mama bear” for her customers and for those who worked around her. She was smart, tough, reliable, hard-working, not politically correct, and always requested by name by her plumbers who needed support. She was a beloved member of the industry! Marita recently celebrated 31 years of sobriety and was a beloved sponsor, mentor, and inspiration for her AA family. She regularly attended meetings, was available anytime for those who needed extra support and guidance through their AA journey, regularly opened up her home, and called upon others to help her through her own tumultuous journey. Marita was loved by her AA family and she was equally as blessed by having them so active in her life. Marita was preceded in death by: her husband of 30 years, Alan Frayne; her parents; her younger brother, Marty; her ex-husband and friend, Fred Kent; several close friends; and her beloved rescue dogs, Hank, Annie, Buster, and Spike. Marita is survived by: her son, Darin Kent and wife, Gina; her daughter, Kelli and husband, Chuck Harder; her step-daughter, Carrie Davis and husband, Galen; ten (10) grandchildren including Candace Clarida (Ryan), Trey Clarida, Haley Stanczyk (Justin), Harrison Kent, Gates Davis, Dax Davis, Flannery Davis, Alicia Salas, Elena Kent and Anthony Kent; her sisters, Marlys (Jim Pierce) and Mari (Terry Green) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
