Julissa Mignonette Kappes

Julissa Mignonette Kappes of Irving, TX, passed away on August 22, 2019. She was born June 24, 1952 in Savannah, GA to parents Jules Gauche Kappes and Delphina (Roberts) Kappes. Before her retirement, she worked many years as a registered nurse at UT Southwestern Medical Center formerly Saint Paul University Hospital in Dallas, TX. She regularly served as an altar server at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, Irving, TX. She loved taking care of feral felines, attending local theater productions, and going along for Senior Center bus excursions, and she looked forward to weekly swims at a nearby pool. She is survived by her sisters Carol (Oklahoma City, OK) and Linda (Medford, OR) and brothers, Bill (and wife Jane) (Mesquite, TX), and Rob (Anderson, CA); a cousin, Lynda Land (and husband Don) (North Richland Hills, TX); and niece Robin (and husband Michael) (Evans, GA) and nephew Alex (Waves, NC). She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be handled through Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home in Mesquite, TX. A rosary prayer service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. and the Memorial Mass – lead by Father Albert Becher – will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, Irving, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ellis Island Cat Rescue (Murphy, TX) or a local no-kill animal shelter in her honor.
