Obituary of Roger Frederick James Hilliard
Roger was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and peacefully passed away May 17th, 2019 at Mission Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years Evelyn; Son Stephen (Pat) Hilliard, grandchildren Cole and Katlin; Daughters Daphne (Carl )Greer grandson Ken; Joan (Doug) McPherson granddaughter Amanda; Louise (Marcel) Ruel grandsons Jamie and Kasey, great grandchildren JC, Ryland and Linkin. Roger’s extended family also included sister-in-law Susan Hilliard and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger moved his family to Mission in 1966 to become the Imperial Oil Agent for the area until 1974. Roger then became a Herbrand Mobile tool dealer until his retirement in 2006. Roger’s public service began with the Royal Canadian Navy (1955-57), the RCMP Auxiliary Police Service (1964-1984). Roger continued his community service with involvement in the Western Canada Soapbox Derby, Boy Scouts of Canada, Mission Minor Hockey, Mission Marlins Swim Club, Royal Canadian Legion and a Board Member of the Pleasant View Care Home. The Family would like to acknowledge the Staff of Mission Memorial Hospital and the Chartwell Cedarbrooke Retirement Home for the care and support. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, 32860 Cherry Ave, Mission BC on June 1st at 1pm. Family has request in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Canada Cancer Society.
