Thomas (T. J.) James Luschen

Thomas James (T. J.) Luschen, 51 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 2, 2019. He was born in Houston, Texas. He was the beloved husband of Michelle and Dad of Campbell (17), Thomas (15) and Mark (13). He is survived by his parents, Hank and Jane Luschen of Nashville, Tennessee, sister Janet (Adam) Schneider of Austin, Texas, sister Michelle (Terry) Gibson of Bella Vista, Arkansas, brother David (Julie) Luschen of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and multiple nieces and nephews. T. J. was a graduate of Humble High School. He earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas and a Master’s in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University. After Michelle and T.J. started a family, he became a stay-at-home Dad. He regularly tutored English as a second language, was active in the refugee community and was an avid volunteer in his sons’ school. He was a regular at his sons’ extracurricular events. His passions were surfing and playing his Ukulele. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2pm at Village Chapel, 2021 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212. The service will begin at 4pm immediately following visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Literacy Council, University School of Nashville, or Tennessee Immigrants & Refugees Rights Coalition (TIRRC).
