Salvatore Failla

Salvatore Failla, 85, beloved husband of Teresa (Pugliara) Failla for 61 years, of Farmington, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019. Born in Floridia, Sicily, Italy, he was son to the late Santo and Concetta (Giarratana) Failla. A talented mason and craftsman, Salvatore owned and operated Universal Masonry until his retirement. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his running commentary on life, and his love of storytelling. His euphemisms were famous during his life and will be legendary with his death. For family and friends, Salvatore was an inspiration for cultural traditions, history and the importance of family. Also, he will be remembered for his appreciation of good food. No one valued an excellent meal more than Salvatore. Most importantly was the impact he had on the lives of all he touched. Whether family, friends, associates, young adult or child, Sal would share some piece of wisdom or endearing, humorous anecdote for them to cherish. His Light will be greatly missed. In addition to his devoted wife, Teresa, he will also be missed by his three children: Santino Failla and his wife Beth of NV, Maria Denison and her husband Rick of OH, and Claudia Kemmerer and her husband Rick of West Hartford, his four precious grandchildren, who affectionately called him Nonno; Danielle Failla, Zachary Failla, Shelby Denison, Luc Kemmerer, as well as an extended family. A time of visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, 10:30am-1:00pm, at the New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, with a Funeral Home Prayer Service at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
