Obituary of Stella Waltos Hartmayer
Our beloved Stella (Stanislava) Waltos Hartmayer, 102, died on May 9, 2019 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. After living a life full of courage, kindness, accomplishments, travel and love of family, her independent and sometimes feisty spirit will be sadly missed. Stella was born to hard working, intelligent Polish immigrant parents in Hooversville, Pennsylvania on October 3, 1916. She left that small town, to move to New York City to work and study at the age of 17 years of age. Among her many professional positions were Area Manager at the Credit Bureau of Greater New York, Executive Secretary of a New York City fashion house, and Area Supervisor for a national restaurant chain also in New York. She accomplished all this while raising two successful sons, of whom she was ferociously proud! Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was heartwarming. We loved her just as much! Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Casper Hartmayer; and grandson, Michael Todd Hartmayer. She is survived by sons, Raymond Hartmayer and wife, Janice, Robert Hartmayer and wife, Geraldine; grandchildren, John Hartmayer (Neya), Alexis Hartmayer Harmon (Roger), Lauren A. Hartmayer; and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Louis, Myles and Ty Sutton. Our heartfelt gratitude to all staff, administration and volunteers at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Heritage Hospice for the professional and compassionate care that was given to our mother. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, with a 4:30 p.m. Prayer Service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, to your charity of choice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
