James Kindred Strickland
May 8, 1940 – June 2, 2019

James Kindred Strickland, age 79, of Moores Bridge, Alabama passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Strickland is survived by two daughters Lindy Gilbert and Marty Rogers; three sons Robert Strickland, Randy Whitten, and Robbie Whitten; one sister Benay White; three brothers Jerome Strickland, Truman Strickland, and Alton Strickland; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Kindred was a simple man who loved to hunt, fish, live off the land (he was a master at campfires), fish frys and Friday night dances. He received his marketing degree from Jacksonville State University and owned the Little Giant Meat Market in Rainbow City, Alabama. He was a published author and songwriter. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. James Pugh officiating.
Pallbearers will be Scott White, Phillip Oswalt, Chris Strickland, Dave Junkin, Justin Gilbert and Jacob Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mayfield Fire Department, 18239 Boyd Road, Elrod AL 35458.
