IN THE CARE OF
McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel
Charette, Margaret Mary “Peggy”
Peggy passed away Nov 28th at the extraordinary age of 98 years. Born in Ottawa November 8, 1920, Peggy was a remarkable woman. With sparkling Irish eyes and a wonderful laugh, Peggy was university educated, a lover of cottages and cooking, a musician and singer, selfless caregiver as wartime Red Cross volunteer and later as St. Pat’s Home volunteer. But most important to her was the family she gave rise to. She was the girl in the yellow eyelet lace dress that captured the heart of her loving husband John Edward “Ted” Charette for the next 70 years and becoming the loving mother and spiritual head to her family of eight children: Ellen, Tony (Cathy), Danny (Danielle), Francis (Carol), John (Nancy), Jim (Anne), Paul (Kim), David (Kathy) along with 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The richness and vastness of the memories and experiences she leaves behind will continue to be her most treasured gifts to us all. Special thanks to Kate Mackenzie (Bayshore Home Health), Dr. Douglas (CPMA), the wonderful staff of the Ravines and Retire at Home.
Visitation will be at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 174 Wilbrod St., Ottawa, on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 am.
