Obituary of Anastasia Lazor
LAZOR, Anastasia----Passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018, in her 94th year, at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre with family by her side. Predeceased by her husband, George Lazor, in 1981 and youngest son, Gregory, in May 2017. The beloved mother to Anna Doyle (Oliver), Luba Keli Koros (Karl), Robert Lazor and the late Gregory Lazor (Tia). Dear grandmother (Babcha) to Michelle House (Dylan), Alexis Doyle (Clint Moroz), Brooke Frederick (Tyler), Adam Lazor (Caterina Rylance) and Joshua Lazor. Great grandmother to Rachel and Simon House. Anastasia was born in Eastern Ukraine in January 1925. She survived the Ukrainian Famine and Nazi work camps. After the war, she met and married George and emigrated to Canada in 1951. She was always ready with an interesting story of days gone by. Anastasia will be remembered for her continuous encouragement for life-long-learning as her own formal education was cut short because of the war. She will also be remembered for her amazing flower gardens, beautiful collection of cross stitch embroidery works and memorable Ukrainian dinners and Easter breakfasts. A celebration of life was held in November when Anastasia was able to enjoy the company of family and friends. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society or the PRHC Foundation. In keeping with her wishes, a cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Comstock Funeral Home, Peterborough. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s at Fleming and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their loving and compassionate care. In memory of our mother, please share a glass of wine and good food with family and friends.
