Larry Koon

Larry Koon, age 70, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Tuskegee Veteran's Hospital Nursing Facility. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, Alabama on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Ed Grifenheden officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Mr. Koon, son of the late Harry Lee Koon and Beulah Devert Crawford Koon, was born November 3, 1948 in Phenix City, Alabama. He was a military veteran, having served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era Conflict. After leaving the military, he worked for several years as an electrician, and served numerous residents in Columbus and Phenix City. Mr. Koon was Baptist by faith and a man that always loved the outdoors, working with woodwork, and spending time with his family. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing Atari and other video games. Other than his parents, a brother, Roy Koon, preceded Mr. Koon in death. He is survived by a sister, LeeAnne Koon and her husband Eben Nadeak of Phenix City, Alabama; two nephews, Francisco Nadeak and Lorenzo Nadeak; numerous cousins and friends.
