Emory "Gene" Eugene Trask

Emory Eugene “Gene” Trask died on May 10, 2019 at 82 years old. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado on March 16, 1937 to Emory Elwood Trask and Mary Lee Trask, née Huston. He was raised in Pueblo County surrounded by his father, stepmother, Dorothea Nell Trask, née High, grandparents Emory Johnson “Pop” Trask and Hattie E. “Mom” Trask, née Clonts, and a myriad of siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended Baxter School, County High School, Central High School, Southern Colorado State College and the University of Texas – El Paso. He married the love of his life, Donna Lee Fisher in Pueblo on January 10, 1960 after a whirlwind courtship. They had three children, Christopher Lynn, Kathleen Jeanette and Emory Jay. They lived in a variety of places throughout their lives, ranging from Mainz-Finthen, Germany to Houston, Texas, but always loved and returned to Pueblo. Gene worked in a variety of jobs in his early life, but he was proudest of his service in the Naval Security Group. The bulk of his career was spent working in continuing education as a civil servant for the Army. Gene’s Christian faith was central to his life, and he felt called to preach beginning in his twenties. He served as a pastor, assistant pastor and lay preacher throughout his life ministering at various churches, including Tabernacle Baptist Church, Banner Baptist Church and Mesa Baptist Church. He loved literature, music, art, dogs, theology, education, his family, and above all else, Donna. Gene leaves behind his wife Donna; his children Chris (Sheryl) Trask, Kathy (Tim) Montgomery, Jay (Ruth) Trask; his grandchildren Nathan Montgomery, Jason (Liz) Montgomery, Stephen (Shaunna) Trask; great-grandchildren Victoria and Karson; siblings Donna (Bob) Dowell, (Ann – widow of Les) Trask, Tim (Karen) Trask, Nellie Trask, Ron (Gini) Trask, Nancy (Tim) Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and brother Les Trask. Gene will be greatly missed by all of who knew him, but we live in hope of seeing him again.
