Paul A. Viel, Sr.

Paul A. Viel, Sr., of Batavia, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at age 93. Predeceased by his parents, Alphonse & Mary; his brothers, Frank, Charles, David & Robert; and his wife, Doris Viel. Paul is survived by his wife, Yu Lan “Lisa” Weng-Viel; children, Paul A. (Cheryl) Viel, Jr., Sally J. Burke, and Bruce D. (Tiffany) Viel; step-children, Dawn (Carl) Dotson, Barbara (Doug) Scott, James (Christine) Barrett, Dr. Michael (Jennifer) Barrett, Jinqsui Lin (Qian Zhang), and Jinqqiang Lin (Lijuan). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Paul was a proud US Marine who served during WWII. He was awarded several medals, including 4 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart after his tour in Iwo Jima. Friends may call Monday, 4-7pm at the funeral home of Alvah Halloran & Son, 2125 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY. Burial with military honors will be held Tuesday, 11am at Bath National Cemetery.
