Obituary of Madeline Baez
Madeline Baez peacefully made her journey to heaven on September 4, 2019. She was born in Marshall, Colorado on July 23, 1922. She was predeceased by her parents, Guadalupe and Maria Rodriguez; husband of 74.5 years, Alfred; daughter Barbara Anne; and brother, Manuel Rodriguez. She is survived by her son, Alfred; grandchildren: Daniel and Sean Tyree, Marlon Gomes, Madeline Olson, Lizanne Tanaro, Brandon Baez; siblings: Nitch Rodgriguez, Lupe Lucio; Connie Ramirez, Henry Rodgriguez and David Rodriguez; great-grandchildren: Shannon Miller, Jordan Olszewski, Zach, Josh, Maisie and Alex Tyree, Makayla and Caleb Olson, Carson and Joseph Combs, Gabrielle and Vincent Tanaro; and Mason and Hunter Baez; seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline’s family settled in Sacramento, California in 1925. Madeline and Alfred were married on January 17, 1942. They renewed their vows on their 50th, 60th, 65th and 70th wedding anniversaries. They resided in Sacramento, San Francisco, Somalia, Honolulu, and Salem, OR over their 74.5 years together. She attended Sacramento High School and completed her high school diploma through the continuation program in order to help her mother attend her ailing father. During WWII, she worked at McClellan AFB and for the State of California. Faith and family were the cornerstone of her life. Her devotion to the rosary and weekly mass extended to the end of her life. Madeline gave a lifetime of love to her two children, Freddie and Barbara. She continued her devotion to her family when she took in four or her grandchildren. She raised her family and then worked for an insurance company in San Francisco before beginning to work for AT&T Pacific Bell. She retired from Pacfic Bell in 1987. She will be remembered for her understated ways, passion for reading, beautiful garden and delicious cooking. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Pioneer House where she and Alfred resided since July 2014 for their compassionate and tender care. Madeline’s family invites you to join them for a visitation and rosary at Nicoletti Funeral Home at 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento on Friday, September 27th from 5-8 pm. There will be a funeral mass held at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish at 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento on Saturday, September 28th at 12 pm. Reception to follow.
