Obituary of Bonnie Aliene Latta

Bonnie Aliene (Voris) Latta, 83, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born April 29, 1936 to the late Ralph and Agnes (Jackson) Voris in Springfield, Missouri. She married Rod Latta on May 14, 1977, in Bloomington. She started what would become Latta Suzuki School of Music in 1975 and operated the business for over 40 years with her husband Rod, in Springfield. This was her life’s work, but for Bonnie it was never work, it was her passion. Bonnie loved to teach. She also served as a music leader, pianist, organist, and teacher in several churches and schools throughout the years. Most recently, she was a member of Westside Christian Church. She will be remembered by many as a loving friend, mentor, mom, grandma, grammy, and great grandma. Bonnie is survived by her two children, Larry Dill and Janet (husband Mark) Brewer; grandchildren Myers (wife Christine) Dill, Dillon Brewer, Analise Brewer, and Emily (husband Sam) Bartlett; great grandchildren Hudson Bartlett and Lucia Dill. Additionally, she is survived by her six step children, Mike (wife Raylene) Latta, David (wife Kathy) Latta, Valerie Green, Nancy (husband Larry) Albert, Andy (wife Polly) Latta, and Craig (wife Lynnette) Latta; fourteen step grandchildren, and eighteen step great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rod, granddaughter Katlyn Brewer, and four siblings, Felcie, Thelma, Wilma, and Bill. Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29 from 4 till 7 pm at West Side Christian Church in Springfield. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10 am at West Side. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Memorials may be made to West Side Christian Church or Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
