Obituary of Vevenie Richards
Vevenie Elaine Patterson Richards Vevenie Elaine Patterson Richards was a proud resident of Stamford, ct. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Vevenie went home after a long battle in Stamford hospital. Vevenie was born on September 11th, 1957 in Duansvale, Trelawny, Jamaica West Indies to Cyril and Gertude (Nelson) Patterson. At age 17, she migrated to the United States; residing with her sister and family in Stamford, Ct. She later graduated from Rippowam High School. Vevenie is the youngest of seven children; George “BJ” DeLisser, Warren Patterson, Dedon Patterson along with the late Pearline Patterson McDonald, Clifton “Daniel” Patterson, and Lillete Patterson Livingston. Vevenie devoted years of service to GE, Pitney Bowes, and Filenes to name a few. She enjoyed getting dressed up, interacting with people on a daily basis at work. But her true passion was cooking, she later established and ran her own small cooking business. Vevenie was a beautiful, strong, fashionable woman, whom loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. Holidays and parties brought out the greatest joy, where she pulled out all the stops for her events. Vevenie also had a love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and the church. She was member of the Life Chapel, where she attended until the day she went home. Vevenie memories will be cherished and unforgotten. She raised five children and a nephew; Sean McLean, Crias Richards, Saleema “Chummy” Richards Simpson, Shaheem Richards, Nevada Richards, and Tafari Patterson (nephew). Celebrating her life are grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of family and friends. “ She was a mother to all and loved people. “ “ She will live in our hearts and memories forever.” ---- The Family Calling Hours will be held at Leo P. Gallagher FH 2900 Summer St Stamford, CT. on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 7- 9 pm. Funeral Service on Saturday 10 am at Union Baptist Church 805 Newfield Ave Stamford CT Interment to follow at Fairfield Memorial Park
