Ronald Harold Robinson

Robbie Robinson, beloved husband of Dorothy Robinson, passed away on March 10, 2019. Lovingly missed by his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Robbie was born in Vancouver on March 4, 1931. Childhood was a happy time spent fishing with little brother Bob and their friend Joe Kaefer. Five-year-old Robbie’s babysitter was Jack Nicholson. He has been close friends with them for their entire lives. At a skating party on a slough near Melfort Saskatchewan in 1953, the handsome young constable, Robbie, met the love of his life, nurse Dorothy. It was the start of a life of adventure that took them throughout Saskatchewan for the next twenty-five years. They welcomed their two wonderful boys into the world – Jim and Bob – and raised them in the outdoors and in small towns. Special times were spent hunting, fishing, bowling, curling, working with the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners, and playing cards with friends. 1975 brought Robbie and his family back to the Lower Mainland, where he and Dorothy have made their home ever since. Robbie retired from the RCMP in 1978 but, still too young to sit around the house, he began working for the BC Liquor Board. Robbie and Dorothy began a new chapter in their life in 1990, with the birth of their first grandchild. Robbie said that meeting his first grandchild pulled at his heart even more than the birth of his sons. Both his grandchildren were a source of great joy to him. Robbie’s last retirement was in 1992. Winters were spent in Desert Hot Springs where they met many new friends over the next twenty-plus years. He volunteered time raising money for and awareness of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. His summers were spent fishing, and traveling Canada to visit friends and relatives. Robbie’s family believes he will never be far from them. They are thankful for his steadfastness, kindness, and the example that he set in life. They know that his was a life well-lived, with nothing to regret.
