Obituary of Leah M. Coady
Leah M. (Talbot) Coady, age 78, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert F. Coady Sr., to whom she had been married for 59 plus years. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Manville) Talbot, she spent her childhood in Fall River, going to St Anne’s School, then graduating from Durfee High School. After marrying in 1958, she and her husband resided in Champagne, Il, where they started the first half of their family. In 1964, they moved to Somerset. After raising her family, Leah received her Associates Degree in 1981 from Bristol Community College in Computer Science. For most of her life she was a stay at home wife and mother. After her children were raised, she volunteered at the American Red Cross for several years. More recently she worked the voting polls for the Town of Somerset elections. She was one of the founding members of the Somerset Girls Little League, where she also coached for several years. She was a multi-talented craftsman who enjoyed making treasures for her family and friends. She took great pleasure in celebrating the various accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband, Robert, she is survived by six children, Lisa Coady and her partner Lisa Seelye of Fall River, Rebecca Bradbury and her husband Paul of Middletown, DE, Charlene Moniz and her husband Stephen of Somerset, Robert Coady and his wife Patricia of N. Dartmouth, Kimberly Hunt and her husband Jeffrey Zaller of New Bedford and Erica Carrita and her husband Joe of Swansea. She also has 16 grandchildren and great-children, Shannon, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Erik, Emily, Benjamin, Caroline, Robert, Travis, Mary, Leah, Alesia, Noah, Avin and Vanessa. She is survived by a sister Diane Costa and many nieces and nephews. Leah was the mother of the late Pamela J. Valerio and sister of the late Ronald Talbot and Claudette Rapoza. Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Visiting hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 7pm. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Somerset. For directions and online registration, please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
