Robert A. Mello Sr., age 83 of Homosassa FL, formerly of Swansea, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019. He was the husband of Elizabeth Cordeiro Mello. They were married for 15 years.
Born in Swansea, he was the son of the late Antone and Rita (Medeiros) Mello. He was the brother of the late Charlotte Oliveira and Lucy Medeiros , and the grandfather of the late Tyler Mello.
He was employed by the Town of Swansea Housing Authority and Wooster Express, of Seekonk, MA. Mr. Mello was a member of the Swansea Fire Department from February 1962 until his retirement in January 1998. He was a member of the Swansea Police Association. He enjoyed to golf at Touisset Country Club and Wampanoag Golf Course and was a fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Christine Lacera (Joe) of Cranston RI, Robert Mello Jr of Swansea MA, Brenda Mello-Ricci (Ed) of Fall River, MA and Elizabeth Botelho (Robert) of Somerset; five grandchildren Maeghen Malone, Amanda Denis, Ashley Cordeiro , Zachary Cordeiro, and Savannah Nascimento and five Great Grandchildren Aubrey and Jamieson Sherlock, Riley and Seamus Malone, and Eva Cordeiro.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 10:00 AM from Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 GAR Highway Swansea. Burial in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Warren, RI. His visitation will be on Monday, April 29, from 5:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to Vitas Hospice 3350 W Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 or a charity of your choice.
