Obituary of Leatrice Marie Crane
"Happiness is a Choice" Leatrice Marie ("T") Carmer Crane, age 95, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019. She was born in Moline, Illinois on December 5, 1923 to Georgia and Glen Carmer. Leatrice graduated from Bloomington (Illinois) High School and received a B.A. degree in Journalism from Northwest University. Leatrice worked as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and NewsMap, a division of NewsWeek Magazine. Leatrice married James Burchard Crane on May 18, 1946 at the Northwestern University Chapel. She made a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters in Deerfield, Illinois. She also served her community for many years in countless ways, but especially as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, as a member of the Board of Directors of School District 109, and as Deaconess of the First Presbyterian Church. "T" and Jim travelled extensively to all fifty states and internationally, including the Great Wall, the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Giza and a photographic safari to Kenya. They also enjoyed "Birding" and accumulated a long Life List in their travels. They lived in Huntington Beach, California for over 20 years before moving to Tucson. There, they enjoyed bicycling along the Pacific Coast, including many Century (100 mile) rides to visit cycling friends in San Diego. "T" said her recent years of the living at the Tucson Forum were her most carefree and relaxing. She enjoyed plenty of time to read all the new best sellers, making new, dear friends and the Northminster Presbyterian Church community. She is survived by daughter Jamie Crane Wong, grandchildren Andrew Wong and Catherine Wong McIntosh, and great-granddaughter Audrey Marie McIntosh. She is preceded by her parents, her loving husband of 58 years, Jim (2004) and daughters Catherine Ann Crane (1957) and Georgia Lee Crane Chin (2011). Funeral arrangements will be held at Memorial Park, Old Orchard, Illinois.
