Roy T Taylor

Roy Thi Taylor, 76, died in her home in Tucson Arizona on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018. Roy briefly battled a recurrence of her uterine cancer that had spread to her lungs. Roy was born on May 1, 1942 in Vinh Long, Vietnam. She was born into a large family with several siblings. Roy married William Ray Gates, an airman, on March 17, 1972. She moved to the USA and gave birth to Marie A Wrinn in 1973, and William Roy Gates in 1975. As a military spouse, she moved her family several times, residing in Michigan, Oklahoma, and Illinois. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 1981. She worked several jobs and spent many decades as a school bus monitor with the Tucson Unified School District. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, cooking, and pulling weeds. She attended 22nd Street Baptist Church for over three decades. Roy is survived by a sister, son and four grandchildren in Vietnam. Roy has two children, two grandchildren, a brother with two children and several grand-nieces and nephews residing in Tucson, AZ. She is pre-deceased in death by her second husband of 28 years, Jerry Odell Taylor, her parents, and several siblings. Funeral services will be held at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, on May 19, 2018. Viewing will begin at 10 am with a graveside service at 11am.
