Obituary of Eugenia Campardo
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend after a very short battle with pneumonia. She died peacefully at Royal Columbian Hospital with many family members by her side. Eugenia was born in San Fior, Treviso, Italy on May 5th, 1934 to parents Clorindo Corocher and Maria Brescacin. She followed her teenage sweetheart Giuseppe to Vancouver in 1957 where they married on May 25th. They were fortunate to enjoy their 60th wedding anniversary last year with a surprise family celebration. Eugenia was a very talented seamstress by trade and worked in the Clark Drive garment district in the early days until her children were born. She continued to create many outfits for family and friends right up until her later years. Her other love besides family was gardening. Nobody but her could cut the lawn for want of damaging the flower beds. Along with her husband’s care, the garden bore an abundance of fruits and vegetables every season to be shared with family and friends. Like her husband, Eugenia was a fierce competitor in the game of Bocce and won several trophies including in the B.C. Senior Games. In retirement they both enjoyed vacationing with friends and family in Reno, Puerto Vallarta and other warm locales. Eugenia was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe on August 20th, 2017. She is survived by her daughters Carmen Marin, Paola Salt (Tom); son Dennis (Lisa); grandchildren Gino, Vanessa, Christopher, Justin, Celestina, Olivia, and Julien; sisters Armida Zanatta (Marcello), Luigina Campardo (Severo), and many nieces, nephews and other relatives in Vancouver, Ontario, Belgium and Italy. Many thanks to the Emergency and ACE unit Doctors and Nurses of Royal Columbian Hospital for their care and a special Thank You to Christina and her nursing staff at Belvedere Care Centre for their loving care of our mother these past six months. Viewing will be held on Sunday July 8th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver. Mass of Christian burial on Monday, July 9th at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 555 Slocan St., Vancouver with Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.
