Joan Elinor Nielsen

Joan Elinor Nielsen (Tidy) passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on November 19, 2018 at St. Michael’s Care Home in Burnaby, BC surrounded by her loving family. Born in Vancouver, BC on July 28, 1942, she is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years Arly Nielsen; children Irene (Mike), David (Lana), Angela (Robert); grandchildren Shauna, Patrick, Zachary, Matthew, Jacob, Arianna, Raelene, Destiny, Elora, Cassia and Tiago; and numerous extended family and friends. Joan and Arly married on November 12, 1960 and Joan held several fulfilling roles over the years including several years at Air BC. Joan was a dedicated volunteer for Pioneer Girls at Kingsway Church for many years and served as Secretary on the Board for Air BC’s Cares for Kids. Joan enjoyed travelling, spending time at her second home in Birch Bay, and loved socializing with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Kingsway Foursquare Church, 4061 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC.
