Obituary of Thomas William Pretty
Thomas William Pretty of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on October 6th at his home following a series of health issues. Thomas Pretty was born in Texas to Douglas and June Pretty on December 15, 1968. The son of a career Navy father, Thomas attended schools in England, the United States, and graduated from high school in Spain. He completed a degree from Johnson and Wales in Culinary Arts and worked at a variety of establishments for several years. Thomas married Lois Koerwer on July 20, 2002 in Cary, NC. He eventually made his career as a landscaper for the City of Virginia Beach maintaining schools and parks throughout the community for more than 20 years. A dog lover, throughout his life Thomas owned many Pekingese, and Boxers including his current fur friend, Romeo “Romi”. Thomas’ life had many ups and downs, much like the rollercoasters that he loved to ride. Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Douglas, and survived by his mother June of Kettering, England, and his wife Lois. He is remembered and cared for by his Auntie Amy Woodlee and family in the US; Uncle Roy Spreckley and family of Melton Mowbray, England; as well as many other aunties, uncles, and cousins in England. A celebration of life service will be held at 7pm on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Beach Fellowship located at 1817 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Pastor Jonnathan Thoroughgood of Greater Faith Deliverance Ministries will be officiating, with assistance from Pastor David Rundle of the Beach Fellowship and Minister Ron Tolbert of Greater Faith. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting friends make donations to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
