August (Gus) L. Sanheim Feb 14, 1946 - June 12, 2018 We are sad to announce the passing of Gus on June 12, 2018 at the age of 72. He had battled cancer for several months, and finally passed peacefully with his wife by his side. Gus was predeceased by his infant twin brother, Donald George; his parents, George and Mary Sanheim; his brother, Rodney and his step-father, Robert Sanheim. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eva; their sons, Clinton (Carole), Kurtis (Colleen); daughter, Carlita (Garrett) Wilson; grandchildren, Coleton Sanheim, Alex (Jon) Smerchinski, Presley and Wylynn Wiberg. He is also survived by extended family, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Gus was born at Osage SK on Feb 14, 1946. He lived most of his life (all but 10 years) in Tyvan. He lived for a short time in Regina where he met Eva. They married in 1967 and started their family. In 1975 they moved to Tyvan and commuted to work in Regina for 35 years. He worked in the advertising business, starting as a layout artist, and then extending into print sales, and production management. Horses were always a big part of his life and he enjoyed team roping, training, and local pasture work. In later years, he enjoyed working in his tack room, repairing saddles and tack. He was involved with the Canadian Western Agribition rodeo committee for 29 years. Gus was proud of his Tyvan community, and was involved with the hall committee, 4H, he coached and played hockey, and MC'd many community events. Over the years, Gus and Eva enjoyed dancing, adventurous road trips, playing cards, and entertaining friends and family. Gus enjoyed country music and singing with his family. Children were close to his heart, you could always find him with a baby on his knee or a kid on his horse! Funeral will be on Saturday, June 23, at 2:00 pm, at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Sedley SK. with Father Louis Abello celebrating. Interment to follow in Tyvan Cemetery.
