She moved several times with her family across western Canada only to return to Winnipeg in 1986 where she remained for the remainder of her life. As a child, Theresa enjoyed life to her fullest. Over the years she participated in many sports and activities including softball, bowling, ringette and tap dance. It was her interest in ringette that encouraged her entire family to become involved in the sport. In her teen years, Theresa became an avid cyclist. She proudly participated in Trek for Africa where she cycled over 485 miles to raise money for impoverished women in Africa. Theresa also enjoyed water polo and weight lifting throughout her teen years. At the age of 16, Theresa traveled with her family to England to celebrate her great-grandmother’s 100 th birthday. She would often look back on that trip with fond memories. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, particularly to BC, Alberta and Ontario. Theresa was a very artistic individual. She loved to create drawings and paintings. While in junior high school, her drawing of Canadian airman Andrew Mynarski was featured on the CBC evening news. She never gave up on her love of art and later had her art work displayed in an art show here in Winnipeg. Theresa always had an interest in learning new things and was a life-long learner. Over the years, she had studied welding, hair dressing, business and sales. She was a successful telemarketer for many years, often winning company awards and incentives. As was the case with most McEwen children, Theresa was employed with McEwen Bros. Landscaping for many, many years. Laborer, water truck driver, and tractor operator were just a few of her jobs while working there. Theresa always loved a great camp fire and enjoyed spending time at the family trailer at Chesley’s Resort and Campground in Petersfield, MB.
