Lorraine McManus

Lorraine McManus, age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Adira at Riverside following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Yonkers on October 12, 1928 to Isabella and Nicholas Dillmann, the youngest of seven children. A graduate of Commerce High School, Lorraine was a teletype operator at the Alexander Smith Carpet Shop and later worked in the Food Service Program for the Yonkers Schools. She loved her extended family and enjoyed cooking for them. An avid baker, her hand-painted sugar cookies and cakes were always a favorite at family gatherings. Lorraine married Edward McManus Jr. on April 16, 1950 at St. Margaret’s Church in Yonkers. They were married for 59 years until Edward passed away in May 2009. She was a member of the Park Hill First Reformed Church and South Presbyterian Church in Yonkers. An active church member she belonged to Christian Endeavor and the Ladies Fellowship Group.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter Janet (Anthony) Corvini, her son David (Maureen) McManus, her grandchildren Caitlin and Stephen Corvini, David, James and Patricia McManus, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four sisters, Agnes VanAken, Isabelle DeMinco, Elinor Clinton and Alice Kallop, two brothers, Nicholas and Thomas Dillmann and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 4-8pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday September 6th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
