Thomas Marion Weiss

Tom moved to Lansing in 1960 after graduating from St. Stanislaus High School in Bay City to attend Lansing Community College and complete a work-study program with the MI Department of Transportation where he continued to work until retiring after more than 40 years. He also spent 2 years in the Army, stationed in Germany from 1964-1966.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane (White) Weiss; his children, Cheryl Weiss, Brian (Tammy) Weiss, and Daniel (Kristin) Weiss; his grandchildren, Foster, Dylan and Anson Weiss, Kayla (Trevor) Barthel, and Chandler Carrera; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Bernadette Jacobs, Mary Jo Weiss, Nancy (Ron) Krause, Karen (Jerry Singer) Leske, Cindy (Walter) Gorney, and Ann Weiss; sister-in-law, Janet (Magryta) Weiss; brothers, Richard (Betty), John, Mike (Lori), Russ (Diane), and Joe; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul, nephew, Matthew, brothers-in law, Elmer Jacobs, Tim Leske; sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Weiss, Jeanne Weiss and Darlene Weiss.

Tom was proud of his Polish heritage, demonstrated by singing Polish carols at Christmas and showing off his polka skills on the dance floor at every family wedding. He was also known for his excellent singing voice, sharing it with the parishes of St. Casimir and St. Therese as a member of their choirs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and golf. More recently he took joy in playing Euchre with his grandsons, and cheering them on at their various sporting events.

Tom is dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am May 6 at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish with one hour visitation prior. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will also receive friends May 5 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel.
