    Joanne Gertrude Burnell

    Funeral Director

Joanne was born in Mission, British Columbia, to dairy farming parents. While still young, she and her sister and brother helped to milk the cows and feed the calves. Joanne learned to operate a tractor long before acquiring a driver’s license. As a Mission High School graduate, she worked as a milker on various farms throughout Vancouver Island where she met her husband. Joanne and her husband have a grown daughter.

Joanne and family moved to Kamloops in 1991 for her husband's work. At this time she attended Thompson Rivers University and obtained an accounting diploma. In the summer of 1992 she was given an office job in a funeral home and, as Joanne says, "The rest is history." Joanne obtained her license as a funeral director and has served in the industry since that first office position. She enjoys her job guiding and supporting families while planning a fitting service for their loved one.

Joanne and her husband are members of the Kamloops Blazer Booster Club (Western Hockey League) and the two volunteer at games on a regular basis. She has also held various executive positions within the club over the years. They are also members of the Kamloops HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter where Joanne serves as treasurer. Glen Edward Peter

    Funeral Director

A native of Estevan, Saskatchewan, Glen was introduced to funeral service in high school by a friend who washed cars and did maintenance at a local funeral home. When the friend moved on to do something else, Glen took over his position.

After high school graduation, Glen attended a 2-year apprenticeship program for funeral service and earned his funeral director’s license in 1972. That same year, he moved to British Columbia and began working in Maple Ridge before joining the team at Schoening’s in 1974. "Funeral service has been good to me, and I enjoy it immensely. It’s a people-helping profession, and I intend to be involved as long as my health permits," he says.

Glen and his wife have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. When he’s not working, Glen likes to read, relax and go glamping with his wife in their motorhome.
