EXPLORAR EL CEMENTERIO

Acerca de

Dedicated to the community on Memorial Day 1958, Hawaiian Memorial Park continues to serve the families of Hawaiʻi with dignity and compassion. Nestled in Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu, alongside the Koʻolau Mountain Range and overlooking Kāneʻohe Bay, the memorial park is renowned for its breathtaking views. One of Hawaiʻi’s largest and most established memorial parks, the cemetery draws thousands of families to honor the memories of their loved ones.

At Hawaiian Memorial Park, we appreciate and celebrate the diversity of Hawaiʻi, welcoming all religions, cultures and backgrounds. We offer a selection of memorialization options, and we are dedicated to honoring the wishes and traditions of each family.

A Hawaiʻi tradition

For decades, thousands of families across Hawaiʻi have chosen Hawaiian Memorial Park to honor their legacy and heritage. Comprising 80 developed acres of lush green rolling hills and gardens, Hawaiian Memorial Park is rich in history. The most sacred resource located within 156 acres of Hawaiian Memorial Park’s undeveloped cultural landscape is Kawaʻewaʻe Heiau. Nearly 1,000 years old, this heiau was built as a temple by the high chief ʻOlopana.

Adjacent to Hawaiian Memorial Park is the Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery. In 1989, Hawaiian Memorial Park gifted 33 acres to the State of Hawaiʻi to allow for additional burial space for veterans.

Hawaiian Memorial Park is truly a reflection of Hawaiʻi’s mixed culture, and we are proud to celebrate the traditions that make our islands special. There are multiple sections to honor traditions from Asia, where families can offer incense, honor their legacy with an Asian shrine or haka, and a Buddhist urn garden. There are also sections devoted to specific groups, including a private Muslim garden and a private Jewish Abraham garden. There is also a section dedicated to police and firefighters.

Unique burial options

Garden of Reflection Boulder Estates in Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery Hawaiian Memorial Park offers many unique interment choices. Each garden has features and landscape characteristics that create a beautiful and tranquil setting. Whether you are looking for a private family estate, single or companion space, a scattering ossuary for cremation, or a niche to hold single or multiple urns, our associates can work with you to design a customized and meaningful memorial for you and your family.

Mausoleums, urn garden and haka houses

Known as the Sanctuary of Reveries, our mausoleums offer both single and double entombment options, as well as a walled urn columbarium for cremation memorialization. The Court of Remembrance—located between the mausoleums—features glass and marble niches also for cremations.

For those interested in private and exclusive Asian shrines, a haka, or burial house, holds multiple family inurements.

Feng shui options

The newest addition to Hawaiian Memorial Park is Oceanview Garden. This garden is a peaceful sanctuary with panoramic views of Kāneʻohe Bay and the Koʻolau Mountain Range. The garden features a gazebo and a selection of interment and inurement options, such as private estates, single and companion spaces, a heart-shaped cremation urn section, and family boulder urn estates alongside a stream.

Other noteworthy cemetery features

In addition to the spectacular views of the Koʻolau Mountain Range and Kāneʻohe Bay, Hawaiian Memorial Park’s noteworthy features include a marble statue of "The Christus," a memorial honoring The Fraternal Order of Eagles and a floral urn garden with Buddhist features. Hawaiian Memorial Park is also the resting place of a number of iconic Hawaiian musicians who have impacted our islands with their gifts.

History

Cremation Ossuary at Hawaiian Memorial Park In January 1956, Maytor McKinley came to Hawaiʻi to establish a cemetery on the island of Oʻahu. A month later, he met with Harold Castle, owner of the 10,000-acre Kāneʻohe Ranch, to discuss acquisition of some land for the cemetery.

On Memorial Day 1958, Hawaiian Memorial Park was dedicated to the people of Hawaiʻi. At the time, the park was owned and operated by Hawaiian Memorial Park Ltd., and Maytor was president and chairman of the board. In July 1961, Hawaiian Memorial Park Ltd. was recognized as Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery Association.

Since 1992, Hawaiian Memorial Park has been a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. As a Dignity Memorial affiliate, we offer exclusive benefits to the families we serve, such as our Relocation Protection Program.

At Hawaiian Memorial Park, it is our promise to continue our tradition of serving Hawaiʻi’s families with the same compassion and respect we have shown for 60 years.

Committed to community

At Hawaiian Memorial Park, we care deeply about our community and make it a priority to help our neighbors whenever possible. Our community involvement takes on various forms.  We are committed to green initiatives through aiding in recycling drives and computer/battery/metal collections. We are a dedicated sponsor of the American Diabetes Association and CrimeStoppers Honolulu to promote health and safety in our community. We also support schools throughout Oʻahu and various law enforcement, veterans and civic organizations.

Remembering public servants

The Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation chose Hawaiian Memorial Park as the location of Hawai‘i’s Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, which was dedicated to Gold Star Families on March 17, 2018. The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument at Hawaiian Memorial Park is one of many such tributes across the United States. Hawaiian Memorial Park is honored to be partnered with the Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation and Gold Star Families.

Additionally, in recognition of the courage and selfless service of those who keep our communities safe, Dignity Memorial providers offer honorable funeral tributes at no cost for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty. In addition to providing funeral, cremation and burial services, the program extends counseling services to their families.
