A beautiful new Macon funeral home

Opened in the spring of 2020, Snow's Memorial Chapel on Bass Road is an elegant, modern facility thoughtfully designed for today's families. Light and airy, in soft browns and grays, the 8,400-square-foot funeral home has a chapel that seats 175 guests, posh staterooms small and large, and a spacious reception room for catered events.

A patio with a fire pit and a water feature invites guests to linger outdoors when the weather is nice. A double-sided indoor fireplace divides the entry and a restful living room for a cozy feel in winter. Coffered ceilings are a standout architectural detail. Natural light floods the space during the day.

Parking is plentiful and the building is fully handicap accessible. Our staff knows the meaning of Southern hospitality.

Personalized funeral services

Losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience. We're committed to providing personal and professional service with compassion and creativity.

When you first meet with a funeral director or certified celebrant, we'll ask questions about your loved one: what he liked to do, what she cherished, how he thought about the world, how she liked to spend time. From there, we'll help you create a service that speaks to the unique life of your loved one, whether that's a traditional religious funeral or a contemporary and upbeat celebration of life.

Our team is experienced in arranging catered events and our onsite reception space is flexible for groups large and small. Whether it's a breakfast buffet after a morning service, an ice cream social in the afternoon, or a full dinner reception, just let us know what you have in mind. We'll hire a caterer to handle food and drinks, and we help with decor and more. If it's an outdoor celebration you're seeking, we'll come up with something just right. Think: a late afternoon barbecue with a country band that plays into the evening or a beach-themed celebration complete with sand, seashells and guests in flip-flops.

Cremation options

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, we can explain the process and the different memorial and burial choices. From a direct cremation without a service or witness, to a full funeral service before or after the cremation, we'll help you understand this increasingly common decision.

A loved one's urn or ashes may be picked up at the funeral home, or we can deliver them to your home in person or by U.S. mail. We also offer cremation jewelry, which is a special way to keep the memory of a loved one close.

In addition to assisting during your time of need, our team specializes in helping families and individuals plan final arrangements in advance. We recognize that funeral arrangements and associated expenses can be overwhelming. History

Snow’s Memorial Chapel began in downtown Macon, Georgia, in 1892 as Burgard Funeral Furnishings. In 1942, William A. Snow Jr. bought the funeral home for his brother-in-law, Everett Sammons, and changed the name to Memorial Chapel.

In 1959, Everett's nephew, William A. Snow III, began working at the funeral home. When Everett died in 1973, William A. Snow III and his wife took over the management of the business. Later, in 1979, he bought the funeral home from his father and changed the name to Snow’s Memorial Chapel. William A. Snow III passed away in February of 2020. His wife, Jean Snow, is still active in the business today.

Reginald Smith, who began working with us in 1965, has a long-term heritage of serving in our funeral home. William A. Snow IV, who started in 1983, manages the Macon area funeral homes including all three Snow's Memorial Chapel and Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
