

We mourn the passing of Silviano Horacio Apodaca eldest son, husband, father, and grandfather. Silviano, age 93, lived his last months in Altamonte Springs, Florida before passing away peacefully in his sleep on December 20th, 2024.
The son of Alicia Sisneros Apodaca and Margarito T. Apodaca, he was born in San Ignacio, Guadalupe County, New Mexico, on September 30th, 1931. He was class Valedictorian of his high school and later completed an associate degree in electronics. While serving in the Airforce at the Étain Air Base in the Lorraine province of France, he met his wife of 67 years, Therese Josephine Wolarz Apodaca. They married in 1957. He later joined the Army, serving for 23 years in Germany, South Korea, and Fort Bliss, Texas before retiring in 1975. Silviano and Therese had four children: Johnny Apodaca, Christine Nöelle Higgins, Gérard Lee Apodaca, and Francine Sylvie Cartee. After his retirement from military service, Silviano and family moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked at Lockheed Martin Aerospace assembling several weapon systems including the PATRIOT missile. After his second retirement, he devoted his life to his family, his Catholic faith, reading, and studying politics. His hobbies were building electronics including a color Heathkit TV, gardening, and researching the stock market.
Silviano, also known as “Hap” by his friends and colleagues, is survived by his wife, Therese Apodaca, three of his children, Christine, Gerard, and Francine, his grandchildren, Thomas Higgins, Nicholas Higgins, and Morgan Patrick Johnson and his great grandchildren Emma Higgins, Buddy Higgins, and Imogen Johnson. His surviving brothers and sisters include Deanie Apodaca Glava, Joe Apodaca, Patsy Vijil, Larry Apodaca, Florencia Apodaca Griego, Richard Apodaca, Martha Apodaca Lovato, Vicky Apodaca Sanchez, and Daniel Apodaca. He survived the deaths of his son Johnny Apodaca, and his siblings including Samuel Apodaca, Cleotilda Apodaca Pullins, Arturo Apodaca, and Rocky Apodaca.
Funeral arrangements will be held on January 3rd, 2025.
The Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Florida, 32701.
The Military Funeral will be held promptly at 1:30 PM at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, Florida, 32754.
